Aftercare

It is incredibly important to follow the aftercare instructions for the best healing and, consequently, the best result for your tattoo. If you have any questions or concerns about aftercare, feel free to contact me at any time.

Marble Surface

General guidelines

  • You can shower, but avoid baths. Do not use soap on your tattoo; clean the area with water.

  • Avoid sports until your tattoo is fully healed.

  • Refrain from swimming and/or going to the sauna for 2 weeks.

  • Avoid sun exposure.

  • Avoid tight clothing and let the skin breathe.

Day of the application

  • Leave the foil on for about an hour, then remove it.

  • Touch your tattoo as little as possible, and if necessary, do so with clean hands.

  • Keep the skin well moisturized with a layer of the aftercare cream. Recommended: Bepanthen tattoo ointment (available in my shop, as well as in the pharmacy).

  • Clean the tattoo first with water and/or an antiseptic soap before applying the cream.

  • Avoid tight and light clothing, as ink may still come out of your tattoo.

  • For the first night, it is recommended to sleep with foil to prevent ink from getting on your sheets.

Further healing

  • The first three days are crucial in the healing process of your tattoo, but it takes about 2 to 3 weeks for the top layers of your tattoo to fully heal.

  • Touch your tattoo as little as possible, and if necessary, do so with clean hands.

  • Keep the skin moisturized with a layer of the aftercare cream for two weeks. You can continue to do so for a longer period.

  • Allow the skin to breathe as much as possible, but temporarily cover your tattoo when you know it might get dirty (due to work, etc.).

Attention

  • After about a week, black "flakes" may start to peel off. Don't panic; you are going through the peeling process, and this is a normal phase in the healing process.

  • For colored parts of your tattoo, this peeling might be more pronounced, and sometimes scabs may form. It's crucial: do not touch the scabs and certainly do not peel them off.

  • Fineline tattoos often require touch-ups because very fine needles are used. Assess whether your tattoo needs this, and consider scheduling an appointment after at least a month and a half. Touch-ups are always free!
