Preparing for your tattoo

Preparing for a tattoo appointment is important to ensure that both you and I have a positive experience. Here are some tips that can help.

Hygiene

Ensure that you are clean and fresh on the day of your appointment. Good personal hygiene is important.

Avoid alcohol and drugs

Refrain from using alcohol and drugs before your appointment, as they can impact the tattooing process and lead to complications. They also affect your bleeding and endurance/pain tolerance. It's a misconception that smoking weed helps you relax; in reality, it only increases pain during tattooing. So it's best to avoid them altogether!

Eat well and stay hydrated

Make sure you've had a good meal and are adequately hydrated before heading to your appointment. This can help maintain your energy levels during the session. Additionally, consider bringing some quick sugars with you to help you through any challenging moments.

Hydrating the skin

Hydrating the skin is not mandatory, but it can be beneficial. I highly recommend doing so, especially for underboobs, ribs, and feet. It ensures that the skin is well-nourished and stretches more easily, which can contribute to making the pain more bearable.

Appropriate clothing

Wear clothing that provides easy access to the area where the tattoo will be placed. Comfortable attire can also aid in relaxation during the tattooing process. It's advisable to avoid wearing white or overly good clothes, as there might be a chance of a small ink spill. Ink stains are challenging, if not impossible, to remove from fabrics.

Buddy

If you feel more comfortable with a friend or family member accompanying you, ask if they can join you at the appointment.

Relax

Try to relax and trust in my experience. Take deep breaths during challenging moments and take the time to enjoy the process. Definitely communicate any concerns or if you're not feeling well. Communication is crucial!
